Completed charcoal architectural shingle roof replacement on a mobile home in the Rio Grande Valley

Mobile home roofing in the Rio Grande Valley.

Mobile and manufactured homes are built differently, and their roofs fail differently. Texas Contractors, Inc. handles mobile home roofs from small leak repairs to complete rebuilds, plus the ceilings, trim, and siding that go with them.

No deposit. You pay when the job is done.

Why mobile home roofs leak.

Many older mobile homes have very flat roofs, some as low as 2 on 12. Water drains slowly, sits on the roof, and works its way in along the edges. Patching the top often does not fix it, because the real problem is underneath. By the time water spots show inside, the decking, insulation, and ceiling may already be damaged.

What we do on a mobile home.

  • Leak repairs and roof patches done right
  • Complete tear off and new roof
  • Roof structure rebuilds, including raising the pitch
  • New decking and synthetic underlayment
  • New insulation
  • New interior ceilings, drywall finished and painted
  • Soffit and fascia replaced with smart trim
  • SmartSide engineered wood siding

We don't install skirting, vinyl siding, or windows.

Raising the pitch.

On a 1980s single wide in Harlingen, we tore the roof down to the framing, removed the rot, and rebuilt the structure to raise the pitch from 2 on 12 to 4 on 12. The new roof is a complete CertainTeed system, so it could be registered for a manufacturer warranty. After more than a week of steady rain, it has not leaked.

Inside mobile home parks.

We work inside mobile home parks across the Valley and follow each park's rules on access, parking, work hours, and cleanup. Homes on private lots are covered too.

Permits and engineers.

Permit rules depend on the city and the job. On the Harlingen rebuild, the city required a permit and the homeowner's insurance required an engineer's inspection. We tell the homeowner up front what the city and the insurance will need, then handle the permit and work with the engineer. In Cameron County, we work with an engineer who registers windstorm jobs with the Texas Department of Insurance.

Signs to watch for.

  • Water spots on walls or ceilings
  • A ceiling that sags or feels soft
  • A roofline that dips along the edges
  • Leaks that come back after a patch

Any of these is a reason for a free inspection. It takes about an hour, and we show the homeowner what we find with photos.

Frequently asked questions

Can a flat mobile home roof be fixed for good?

Often, yes. On many older mobile homes, the fix is rebuilding the roof structure to raise the pitch so water runs off. We raised one Harlingen roof from 2 on 12 to 4 on 12.

Do you work inside mobile home parks?

Yes. We work inside mobile home parks across the Valley and follow each park's rules.

Do you install skirting, vinyl siding, or windows?

No. On mobile homes, we handle the roof, decking, insulation, ceilings, soffit and fascia trim, and SmartSide siding.

Does a mobile home roof job need a permit?

It depends on the city and the job. We tell the homeowner up front what the city and the insurance will need and handle the permit.

How long does a mobile home roof rebuild take?

It depends on the damage. The Harlingen rebuild took about 8 working days.

Do you offer financing?

Yes. We offer financing through third party lenders, HFS Financial and Synchrony. Checking if you prequalify is free, takes a couple of minutes, and uses a soft credit check, so it does not affect your credit score. Financing is subject to credit approval. The lender decides approval, rates, and terms based on your credit and other factors, and we do not set or guarantee them. Cash or financed, no deposit is needed, and you pay nothing until the job is done and you are satisfied.

Do you accept credit cards?

Yes. We accept all major credit cards. A flat 1.75% card fee is added to credit card payments to cover processing costs. There is no fee for cash, check, or debit card. Card payments are made when the job is done, and no deposit is needed.

No deposit. You pay when the job is done.
